Communicating with Children
This new training course draws on essential tools and creative ideas for practice in communication with children and young people drawn from very recent developments in practice, policy and research.
A variety of sources including research into children’s experience of assessment, messages from inspections and from serious case reviews and the Munro review of child protection 2011 continue to highlight that professionals often find it difficult to properly engage with and listen to children during assessment and intervention.
Why attend?
This one day course, which aims to increase participant’s skills, knowledge and understanding related to communicating with children is primarily designed for anyone involved in assessments of children in need, in making child protection enquiries, or assessments under The Common Assessment Framework, although it contains information that will be useful for a wider body of child care professionals. It is suitable for newly qualified and experienced professionals.
Training outcomes
The course will:
• Familiarise participants with current policy and research messages relating to communicating with
